A diverse selection of events are held each year, including the Mountain Bike Marathon, Man vs. Horse Contest, Mid Wales Beer Festival and the famous World Bog Snorkelling Championships, which have attracted national media coverage. The town itself offers a good range of amenities including pubs, a Spar store, petrol station/garage, primary school, doctors?? surgery and train station on the scenic Heart of Wales line from Shrewsbury to Swansea. Its convenient location on the A483 offers good road access to the larger market towns of Builth Wells and Llandovery and beyond.
